How to Get College Credits in Algebra?

The question "How to get college credits in Algebra?" is almost a no-brainer. No one ever figured out that it could be so easy to get it.

Getting college credits in Algebra, while scary for many adult learners, are now in our fingertips. Thanks to artificial intelligence, training providers are now into providing accessible, online math courses that progress and spiral sometimes better than traditional math textbooks.

For the math-phobic people, the study of math, particularly Algebra is filled with countless hours of computation, memorization of rules of operations and relations. Concepts pertaining to terms, polynomials, equations and algebraic structures are not only intimidating to a typical student unless you have that so-called "math genes".

Cognizant of the fact that Saxon Math spiral method is not for everyone, I continued my search for a high school math program that would bridge to college math in the long run.

As I searched for this math curriculum, my students continued with Saxon Math. I have only one child who worked wonderfully with Saxon Math. The rest of my children comply with Saxon Math with antsy dispositions. They either drag their math coursework from 2 hours (the time we allot for the study of Math) to the half a day.

You can say that again - "I am so frustrated!"

Thus, when the ALEKS curriculum came forth with a 2-month free trial for homeschoolers, I jumped into the bandwagon. I enrolled my children.

ALEKS is the acronym for Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces. It is web-based software that determines what a student knows or doesn't know in a math course.

ALEKS has learning modules for different levels from 1st Grade to College. The thrilling part of this is ALEKS' accreditation by the American Council of Education (ACE).

For those of you unfamiliar with ACE, ACE is an influential higher education organization. It represents degree-granting institutions including community colleges and private and public universities. Thus, if you study a college course in a college or university, and they are members of ACE, then that college course is recognized in any university or college who are members of ACE.

ACE has a College Credit Recommendation Service (CREDIT) service. It allows adults learners and lately homeschoolers to gain academic credits for formal courses or examinations taken from non-traditional training organizations.

For example, ALEKs is not a traditional educational institution. It is web-based and online but it offers equivalent training courses and college courses typically offered by colleges and universities. Thus, the acquisition of college credits are facilitated.

This approach to acquiring academic credits in this alternative means not only is cost-efficient. The course syllabus offered by ALEKS and other similar ACE-approved institutions are at par with our typical community colleges, private and public universities. Thus, taking a math course in ALEKS is accepted by colleges across the country as long as they are members of ACE.
