Can Classic Novels Substitute for a Reading, Grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling Program?
It will make you probably a bit insecure if you have no other curriculum for literature, spelling, vocabulary, grammar and critical reading. I bet. But, our family has tried it. We have no other curriculum for Reading other than reading the classic novels available. In this method, our children achieves the objectives of spelling, vocabulary, grammar and reading curriculum. For example, in grammar, we go from whole to parts, instead of parts to whole. In other words, instead of studying the parts of speech then going to sentence structure and conjugation, to paragraphs and stories, by reading classic novels we move from the timeless novel and just worry about grammar if there is an obvious deficiency in the area.
