Preschool Online Games

Starfall Reviews

Website: STARFALL.COM

STARFALL is a free web-based learning game format for toddlers, and preschoolers. The objective of STARFALL is to help your child read.

With a free "learn to read" goal, it begins with the basics, that is, knowing and remembering the letter sounds. Your child will have numerous opportunities to practice recognizing letters and words. There is also a reading comprehension component. It is presented in an interactive style with engaging graphics and sounds.

STARFALL has colorful pictures, fun songs, free online educational games, and captivating animated stories. The STARFALL software is very easy to navigate for preschoolers. It is a great way for your toddler and preschooler to be introduced to the computer. They can learn to click the "mouse" and "click and drag".

STARFALL has 4 major categories. The first is the "ABC, Let's Get Ready to Read". The second is "Learn to Read-Zac the Rat and other Tales". The third is "It's Fun to Read - About Me, Art Gallery & More". The fourth is "I'm Reading - Plays, Non-fiction, Comics and More."

My son, who was then 2 years old, started to tinker at STARFALLfor fun. STARFALL offers a wide range of materials and activities that you can download. STARFALL is not only free, it has many printable worksheets for reading and preschool themes. It has a worksheet generator that customized lessons on numbers, counting, letter formation or handwriting, blends, vocabulary cards, word cards, graphs and calendar.

The STARFALL lesson format after the letter recognition moves to a Kindergarten Phonics curriculum. It has lessons in short vowel sounds, long vowel sounds, digraphs, word families and silent e.

STARFALL uses fantasy as a way to motivate so if magic, magicians and tricks are an issue in your family, be sure to assess the content of STARFALLprior to letting your child use it. There is also one emphasis on Charles Darwin and evolution. This conflicts greatly with our Christian beliefs that we came from our Creator and did not evolve from ape primates. However, STARFALL is an excellent overall resource in spite of this downside. Looking at the history of STARFALL, the website was created by Dr. Stephen Schutz and Susan Polis Schutz. Dr. Stephen had reading learning difficulties when he was young which prompted him to help children learn to read. Dr. Stephen is not only a writer, publisher, he is also a PHD graduate in Physics.

This is a great way for your child to be preoccupied while you check on the other kids in your study at home program. We give STARFALL a 5 star rating.
