The Teach Yourself Method

Teach Your Self Method is also called auto-didact learning and self-education.

For College Level Studies

You must identify your passion. What do you want to do? What is this desire burning in you? Master it.

However, anything that you need to master requires a time investment. You must read everything about it. You must google it in the world wide web. Know the various universities that are key players in this field. Be an expert in this field.

Once you have identified this field you want to master, you find out the various graduate programs in various universities. Find the nearest university library in your area and try your best to gain access to their facilities. You can ask around the campus for a student who is willing to assist you find what you need. Actually, no one will stop you unless you look suspicious. If they do, just let them know that you want to research or look into the congressional records area. This is a public area containing books which the Library of Congress sends to their library.

The self-teaching concept is the norm in the Ivy League and universities and colleges with high standards. It is also a critical skill useful in getting your masters and doctoral degrees.

You cannot claim to be the greatest professor if you "spoon-feed" your students. You are not doing them justice in acquiring the most crucial study habit they will learn in their lifetime.

Educators tend to short-cut the understanding of a particular subject for a student. They sift through the major topics and present it to them. The better approach is to give the students a chance to study the material with a fresh set of perspective.

Your success in college, graduate and doctoral studies will depend highly in your ability to teach yourself. The elite professors know that their role is just to guide you. You have to the skim through all the reading materials in the syllabus and should be ready to answer any questions at the end of the semester.

Typically, what will be asked of you are not factual information. You will be asked to synthesize all the information in the reading list and dissect what is relevant or irrelevant.

Those that will get a grade of "A" are those students who can substantiate their essay with pertinent facts from each book assigned.

In order for you to be successful in college, you must know how to teach yourself. In order for you to be successful in life, you must know how to self-study any topic or subject before you.

For High School and Grade School Levels
